Lion

The lion is the second largest cat in the world that only lives in group. The lion has a muscular, deep-chested body, short, rounded head, round ears, and a hairy tuft at the end of its tail. The lion is a species in the family Felidae and a member of the genus Panthera. It is sexually dimorphic ; adult male lions have a prominent mane. A lion pride consists of a few adult males, related females and cubs. Here are some amazing facts about them:

Most of the lines are found in Africa, but one small population exists elsewhere.

A lion may sleep up to 20 hours a day.

Lion’s roar is so loud that it can heard upto 5 miles.

Female lions do 90% of the hunting. While they’re out looking for food, the males guard their young.

Lions can weigh around 30 stones (190kg) specially the male ones and female can weigh up to 20 stones (129kg).

Lions are adaptable. They get most of their water from their prey and can even drink from plants such as the Tsamma melon.

African lions are not yet endangered but people need to leave enough land on earth for Lions.

Lions can eat up 18 to 23 kilograms of meat at once in one sitting.

Lions mark their territory by urinating on plants. They will kill any other Lion or Animal coming in their area.

Lions pretend to be hurt by the bites of their young to encourage them.

Most lions drink water daily but at the time of crises they can go without water for 4–5 days.

Lions used their tassel to show directions to other members of pride.
